IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

The 2025 ALTA VISTA WALKING ON SUNSHINE walkathon will be all this funky, fun & footloose. It will start at 9:00am on Friday, October 17th and will end at 6:00pm. Each grade level will come out during the school day to walk laps & then the fun continues after school from 3:00-6:00. After school this event is for the whole family so bring your chairs, & blankets and plan for dinner to hang out for the afternoon! Please note that All students planning to attend the walk a thon after school must be accompanied by an adult. Children CAN NOT stay after school unsupervised and participate in the walk a thon.

 

Every student that registers by the deadline will receive a Walkathon t-shirt and the first 100 students registered get a free Alta Vista keychain!! Families will need to submit a $50 registration fee for each child in order to be eligible for prizes. This money goes to help pay for the T-shirts as well as other walkathon expenses. 

Laps will be tracked on your child's t-shirt and you must register on or before October 15th to ensure your child gets a T-shirt. T-shirts will be passed out by their teachers on the day of the event. Students should wear their athletic shoes to this event and bring a water bottle.

  

 The following stations will also be onsite for the event:

  • Face painters
  • Balloon Animals
  • Crazy Hair
  • Cougar Cage

There will be food trucks such as Kona Ice and Wonk's Tacos as well as pizza and other concessions from 3:00-6:00.   

 

Important Notes to Parents:

  1. You must register your child(ren) to receive pledges and be eligible for prizes. 
  2. All students planning to attend the walk a thon after school must be accompanied by an adult. Children CAN NOT stay after school unsupervised and participate in the walk a thon.
  3. 5th grade parents - all monies raised will go towards your student’s science camp fees.

All money raised goes directly to AVHSC, so that they can continue to bring students the really FUN stuff at school - like field trips and other amazing on campus activities! This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and it cannot be a success without the support of our community, so please register and fundraise! We encourage every family to help fundraise by asking neighbors and family members to help donate towards your child walkathon. Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year!!!

Alta Vista's Spooky Sprint 2023 Walkathon

 

 

Thank you to all the families that came out to Walkathon on October 13th, 2023! It was great to see so many parents and families out on the field! We had a lot of volunteers that showed up to help and we could not have done it without you! Just to give everyone an idea of how successful this event was, we would like to share some impressive numbers with all of you. 

 

  • We had 420 student registrations which is about 72% of the school. 

  • We had at least 94 volunteer signups to help with planning and help during the event. 

  • We had 530 students turn in laps cards and with all the recorded laps the students combined ran over 3,500 miles!

  • We raised just over $50,000.00 and after fees and event expenses netted over $38,000.00. Thank you to all the families that registered and helped get donations from friends and family. 

  • We are awarding 126 prizes!

2022 Mummy Mash Walkathon

Thank you to all the families that participated in our 2022 Walkathon!
 
  • We had 417 student registrations which is about 75% of the school. 
  • We issued more than 350 student wristbands which tells us that we had a high turnout of students and families participating after school. 
  • We had over 100 volunteer signups to help with planning and help during the event. 
  • We had over 295 student’s check out at the end of the day to record their number of laps.
  • We raised a total of over $57,000 and after fees and event expenses netted over $45,000. Thank you to all the families that registered and helped get donations from friends and family.
  • We awarded 135 prizes
